Tuition

The River School anticipates future tuition in line with other private secondary schools in the area.

The River School will strive to be affordable to families of all income levels.  We look forward to providing scholarships to students with financial need when we have the resources to do so.  In lieu of scholarships during our start-up phase, River School offers a fund-raising option to families as follows:

Families may choose to reduce the full tuition cost by raising up to $2,500 through 25 hours of work on fundraising and 25 hours of work on a committee that contributes to the viability of the school, reducing yearly tuition payment to $4,500. Hours are kept in a log in the office.

If the amount to be raised by the parents, as designated by the budget for that year, is not raised by the end of the year, the difference has to be made up by the families that selected the reduced tuition payment option. They may do that either through fundraising beyond the 25 hours or through cash payment.

Families that do not meet the 25 hours of fundraising and 25 hours of committee work, as per their contract, will pay the amount owed on a pro-rated basis by June 1 of the current school year, otherwise late payment penalties will apply. Families will receive a bill with the pro-rated amount owed by May 1st.

Tuition for returning pioneering students for 2008-2009:
$3000               fall semester 2008
$3500               spring semester 2009

Tuition for new students for 2008-2009:
$3500               fall semester 2008
$3500               spring semester 2009

Please note that tuition rates for new students may go up slightly after the 2008-2009 school year, but we hope to keep tuition in this price range, which is the low end of private secondary schools in the area.

Payment policy

Beginning January 2008, students and parents must be willing to commit to the school for the current school year when they enroll.

While we urge full year tuition payments (at a 5% discount) for those who can, families may choose to make ten monthly payments through an intermediary billing organization, interest free. A $1000 down payment is the first payment, and is due upon enrollment.

A late fee of $20 will be charged for any late payments.  If payment is not made within two weeks of the due date, the student will not be allowed to continue to attend until payment has been brought up to date.

We are a small school and cannot afford to be casual about tuition payment. Emergency requests for exemptions may be brought before the River School board.
